Julius has some competition as another of Beyonce’s bodyguards currently has the internet in a chokehold after being spotted on her Renaissance World Tour.
A video clip has been doing the rounds from the Formation singer’s latest tour show in Washington DC on Monday.
In the video, which has been shared on social media, Beyonce, 41, is seen dressed in her iconic glittery gold jumpsuit and performing her fan-favourite track Energy.
A male member of her security team stood right in front of the stage and cautiously looked around the audience ready for action.
When it gets to the part where the crowd attempts the Energy mute challenge – when Beyonce sings: ‘Look around everybody on mute’ – the bodyguard flashes a cheeky smirk as the crowd falls silent on her demand.
It’s no surprise the bodyguard found it amusing as each audience on the Renaissance tour so far has struggled to remain completely silent. However, his grin caught the attention of admirers who are now very interested in learning all about the new member of Beyonce’s security detail.
One armchair sleuth did some digging and wasted no time in tracking the man down online.
His name appears to be James Plaza, a professional bodybuilder who has competed in and won several competitions. His social media is filled with videos of him training but earlier this year, he announced he was having to take an extended period of time off to work – translation: follow Beyonce around the world on tour.
‘I would love to compete this year but being away with work for most of the year means this physique will have to do for now,’ he wrote in April, just days before the Renaissance shows kicked off.
The BeyHive has been busy swooning over James, with one sharing a video of him at work and tweeting: ‘The way every single security guard who works for Beyoncé is randomly HOT needs to be studied.’
One eagle-eyed fan confessed: ‘I spotted him from the first concert. Loved him ever since.’
‘Beyoncé’s security guard can have whatever he wants from me i fear,’ one declared.
Another fan weighed in: ‘That smirk did it for me.’
‘It’s the smile bro a smile rlly makes someone look attractive af too,’ another admitted, while one fan agreed: ‘Hahaha the smile when everybody was on mute, he knows how serious this is.’

Of course, fans haven’t forgotten Beyonce’s long-serving bodyguard Julius de Boer, who is still watching over the singer on tour and is ever-present whenever she steps out in public.
