Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Andre Onana as they continue to push to secure a deal for the Inter goalkeeper, according to reports.
Manager Erik ten Hag has made the 27-year-old his number one choice to replace David de Gea, who is technically a free agent after his contract with United expired at the end of June.
Although the Red Devils have asked the long-serving Spaniard to delay finding a new club, they are locked in talks with Serie A giants Inter to try and land Onana as his successor.
United have had two offers rejected by the Champions League finalists so far, the latest of which was worth £38.5million plus a further £4.2m in add-ons and bonuses.
The figure Inter are hoping to receive is €55m (£47m) and there is an expectation from all parties that a deal will be struck in the coming days.
In addition to negotiating with Inter, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf are reporting that United have simultaneously been speaking to Onana and have verbally agreed personal terms with the goalkeeper.
The Cameroonian has an outline agreement over a salary package and is keen to move to Old Trafford, where he will be reunited with old Ajax boss Ten Hag.

Onana is ready to sign a big-money deal until 2028, which is likely to be a four-year deal plus the option for a fifth – a format United use with most of their signings.
A third, improved offer from United closer to £47m is likely to be accepted by Inter and both clubs would ideally like the transfer sorted by the start of next week – when Onana is scheduled to return for pre-season.
Inter have already begun assessing potential options to replace the former Barcelona academy product and Yann Sommer is emerging as the preferred choice.

The 34-year-old moved to Bayern Munich in the January window following Manuel Neuer’s injury but the German champions are willing to let him leave just six months later.
Sommer would be a more experienced option alongside Anatoliy Trubin, with Inter also exploring a €10m (£8.5m) deal for the young Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper.
Onana arrived in Milan on a free transfer and his sale will be a massive boost to Inter’s Financial Fair Play situation.
The goalkeeper is excellent on the ball and contributes massively to build-up play, something De Gea has struggled with, and is viewed as a vital signing by Ten Hag.
