Prince William vows to end homelessness as he launches new campaign

Prince William is set to launch a major five-year campaign to end homelessness, which he says should not exist in a “modern and progressive society.”

His charity foundation is putting £3m of start-up funding to help make homelessness “rare, brief and unrepeated.”

He will unveil the six locations across the UK to test ideas to cut homelessness.

“Everyone should have a safe and secure home and be treated with dignity,” says Prince William.

Ahead of the launch of his campaign, Homewards, the prince spoke to Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and Levelling Up Secretary Michael Gove as well as the first ministers of Scotland and Wales.

The prince was inspired by his late mother Princess Diana who regularly took a young Prince William to visit homeless shelters. Diana was a patron of London’s Centrepoint until her death in 1997. Her son William is now the patron of the charity which helps young people facing homelessness.
