Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) is set to have her life turned upside down in EastEnders as she discovers the truth about her mother ‘Rose’ after years of mystery surrounding her disappearance.
It was recently revealed to thrilled viewers that Rose is actually Cindy Beale, who is very much alive and well.
However, when Gina discovers this information, she is set to go into self-destruct mode, as Francesca Henry revealed.
‘She’s a person that has to shake pain off. She doesn’t sit in any emotion for very long, she burns through everything. Shame, pain, happiness, the highs, the lows. Everything she burns through really quickly.
‘This is an extremely painful emotion for her so she needs to burn through it as quickly as possible to get to the other side of it. And she does that in a very self-destructive, but probably a very predictable and understandable way.’

As Gina starts to go off the rails by drinking herself into oblivion, things only get worse as George (Colin Salmon) reveals the full details of their mother’s disappearance, leaving his daughters devastated by his actions.
Despite this, Gina doesn’t entirely blame her dad for the situation.
‘I think she blames herself most and then blames her dad. I don’t think he’s handled it as well as he thinks he has.

‘I don’t think he gives them enough credit for what they remember and what they’ve experienced and what they’ve understood.’
Despite the difficulties Gina is set to face, their is a light at the end of the tunnel in the coming weeks, Francesca revealed.
‘We get to see Gina being a good sister. You get to see that she’s very emotionally intelligent and that she’s a big empath which is probably why she sticks her nose in other people’s business but I think it’s because she’s very perceptive.
‘We’re going to see her having a lot of fun, and we start to see her enjoy her time on the Square, and her finding her place and finding the fun. But we also see her find the pain, because there is a lot of pain.’
