Gino D’Acampo’s series Cooking Up Love has reportedly been axed by ITV following a major shake-up of their broadcasting schedule.

The TV chef, 46, who rose to fame as head of the kitchen on This Morning, presented the series which helped single people find love through food.

However, it appears the series’ days are numbered after just two episodes, with bosses at ITV deciding not to go any further with the project.

Production company Triple Brew, who also oversees The Cube, Lingo, and Celebrity Lingo, was in discussions with the broadcaster about extending the series.

A source said: ‘There were meaningful discussions about commissioning further episodes, but ultimately it was decided to ditch the concept.’

Speaking to The Sun, however, the source clarified that ITV would be ‘still working with Gino on a number of other shows this year’.

The series, set on the Italian island of Sardinia, saw singletons journey to the Mediterranean in search of love (and good food prepared by Gino, of course!).

Although the series only broadcast two episodes, they can both still be found on ITVX – although it’s not been confirmed they’ll stay once the series is axed.

Despite Cooking Up Love being axed, Gino will still be presenting Gordon, Gino, and Fred: Road Trip, and the long-running series Gino’s Italian Escape.

However, it seems his schedule has played a part in preventing a new series from being commissioned, with the Italian chef also hosting Family Fortunes.

The reboot of the family quiz show currently airs on Sunday nights, with the latest series – the fourth so far of the reboot – having only concluded in May.

Gino will also carry on as a regular face on This Morning, following his return to the show after presenter Phillip Schofield stepped down amid a scandal.

The former co-host, who presented alongside Holly Willoughby, revealed he’d lied to his family about an affair he’d had with a 20-year-old runner on the series.

Upon his return, Gino joked: ‘I was in Italy for a month. I came back two days ago. Any news? Anything from the last month that I should know?’

ITV have been contacted for clarification.
