Harry Kane ‘hopes’ that Manchester United will resurrect their interest and launch a bid for him despite Tottenham’s hard stance, according to reports.
It is thought that United have ended their interest in signing Kane from Spurs this summer despite Erik ten Hag’s ‘obsession’ to bring him to Old Trafford and Luke Shaw’s best efforts to convince him to join the club in the latest England camp.
United are ready to look elsewhere having accepted the Three Lions captain will be too expensive and out of their reach.
But according to the Daily Mail, Kane has not given up hope of a move to Old Trafford this summer and wants the Red Devils to submit an opening bid.
Spurs want £100m but United are not willing to pay that much considering Kane will soon turn 30 and his contract is due to expire next summer.
A price closer to £80m would tempt United, though, with Ten Hag’s side in desperate need to recruit a new striker.
Daniel Levy is determined to keep Kane in north London – with hope he will still sign a new deal in the coming 12 months – and the Tottenham chairman does not want to sell him to a direct rival.

Real Madrid are also interested in signing the striker as they seek a replacement for Karim Benzema following his move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad although Kylian Mbappe’s availability could change those plans.
Kane has scored 280 goals and provided 64 assists across 435 games for Tottenham but is believed to be keen for a fresh challenge.
He is the second-highest Premier League goalscorer of all time with 213 – as he looks to overtake Alan Shearer’s record total of 260.
