Cuba Gooding Jr has settled accusations of rape just as a court trial was meant to begin, it has been claimed.
The As Good As It Gets actor was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a New York hotel room 10 years ago, something he has denied.
The trial was due to start in New York federal court later today with jury selection, but has since been called off.
According to AP, a note in the court record said: ‘Trial off. Reason for cancellation (on consent): The parties have resolved the matter.’
The unnamed woman alleged that she had met Gooding at a restaurant in Manhattan in 2013, before he persuaded her to join him at a hotel.
He reportedly convinced her to stop off at his room so he could get changed, and began to undress.

The lawsuit claims that the woman, known only as Jane Doe, attempted to leave but was blocked by the Jerry Maguire star, who pushed her onto a bed.
He allegedly touched her sexually, to which she objected, and then penetrated her as she tried to get off the bed.
His lawyers have since argued that it was consensual sex, calling the allegations ‘completely false and defamatory,’ via the New York Times.
Jane Doe initially went through the proceedings anonymously until Judge Paul Crotty ruled she would have to reveal her name at trial last week.
Gooding has not spoken publicly over the reports.

He was previously arrested in 2019 after separate accusations that he groped a woman’s breast in a bar, before being charged in two additional cases.
The Oscar-winner was accused of pinching a server’s buttocks after making a sexually suggestive remark to her at TAO Downtown and forcibly touching a woman inappropriately at the LAVO New York nightclub in 2018.
In April of this year, Gooding Jr pleaded guilty to one count of forcible touching, in relation to the incident at TAO.
He has always denied wrongdoing but apologized for making women feel ‘uncomfortable’.
New York Times reports that he told the court at the time: ‘I apologize for ever making anybody feel inappropriately touched.’
Last October, it was confirmed that his case was resolved after he compiled with the terms of his plea arrangement – including six months of alcohol and behavior modification counselling.
