Elliott Page has detailed his secret relationship with Kate Mara while she was still dating Max Minghella.
The Juno star, who came out as transgender at the end of 2020, has shed light on his life in Hollywood in his upcoming memoir, Pageboy, which is released on June 6.
In an extract from the book, the 36-year-old revealed that he struck up a relationship with the House of Cards star while he was filming 2014 flick, X-Men: Days of Future Past.
‘The first person I fell for after my heart was broken was Kate Mara,’ he wrote in the snippet, obtained by People Magazine. ‘She had a boyfriend at the time, the lovely and talented Max Minghella.’
He claimed that Max was ‘supportive’ of his then-partner exploring her feelings.
She reportedly told Elliot: ‘I never thought I could be in love with two people and now I know I can.’

‘This was right after I’d come out as gay and it was a time of exploration and also heartbreak,’ he continued. ‘I think my relationship, or whatever you want to call it with Kate, very much encapsulates a certain dynamic that I consistently found myself in, which was falling for people that – I think a lot of us do this – who aren’t fully available. And the sort of safety in that and the highs and the lows and the serotonin bump, and then it goes away.
‘And I think that is definitely a pattern in my life.’
He added that he is still close with Kate – who has read the memoir and will attend a book event this month – and concluded the extract: ‘I think the love and care that we have for each other is it’s very own special thing. Separate from the intimacy that I write about.’
Kate and Max dated for around four years before going their separate ways in 2014, with an insider claiming that the time that their relationship ‘ran its course’.

The following year, she started dating Jamie Bell, and they announced that they had tied the knot in 2017.
In 2019, she welcomed a baby girl with the Billy Elliot star, before giving birth to their son in 2022.
Elliot was previously married to Emma Portner for three years, before they announced their divorce in a joint statement in 2021.
‘After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer,’ they said at the time.

‘We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends.’
The Umbrella Academy star is getting ready for the release of Pageboy, his hugely anticipated memoir.
Speaking to People about why he decided to release the book now, he added: ‘I think this period of not just hate, of course, but misinformation or just blatant lies about LGTBQ+ lives, about our healthcare, it felt like the right time.
‘Trans and queer stories are so often picked apart, or worse, universalized.’
