Frank Lampard has revealed that N’Golo Kante is likely to miss the remainder of Chelsea’s season after suffering a new injury setback.
The World Cup winner only recently from an eight-month absence in April after undergoing surgery on a hamstring problem.
But Kante was forced to miss Chelsea’s 2-2 draw at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday after suffering a groin injury in training the previous day.
‘We lost N’Golo in training yesterday, he felt something in his groin, so that’s probably a couple of weeks and we know what that means pretty much,’ Lampard said.
Lampard added in his post-match press conference: ‘Kante’s unfit, he hurt his groin in training yesterday. It’s going to be a two or three-week injury.’
Chelsea have just three Premier League games remaining, with their final match of the season being at home to Newcastle United on May 28.

Kante’s current contract with Chelsea is due to expire at the end of the season, although reports have claimed that the 32-year-old is close to agreeing a new deal.
When asked if he wants to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, Kante said in an interview with Sky Sports this week: ‘For sure. It’s an exciting project for the club.

‘Unfortunately this season hasn’t been to Chelsea’s standards. But everyone wants to go in this way, the way of success and winning titles.
‘I hope this club will again fight in this direction. Let’s see where I will be but I hope that this is a change for the club, that is most important.’
