Michael J Fox has opened up about injuries he’s suffered as a result of his Parkinson’s disease.

The 61-year-old Back To The Future star was diagnosed with the disease in 1991 at the age of 29, and he recently revealed it’s getting ‘harder and tougher’ to live with as the years go by.

In his most recent interview, the Teen Wolf actor revealed how he almost lost a finger and ‘broke’ his face due to the physical effects of the condition.

Parkinson’s disease manifests itself in unintended or uncontrollable movements, such as shaking and stiffness, and balance problems.

‘I broke this shoulder — had it replaced. I broke this elbow. I broke this hand. I had an infection that almost cost me this finger. I broke my face. I broke this humerus,’ Fox told Variety, listing off his health problems born from the disease.

    ‘And that sucked,’ he added.

The star explained how he has aides around him much of the time in case he falls, and in the past few years he explained how losing his privacy, family members including his mother and father-in-law, his dog Gus, his freedom and his health has taken its toll.

‘I hesitate to use the term “depression,” because I’m not qualified to diagnose myself, but all the signs were there,’ he explained, before crediting his family for pulling him through it.

This comes as an AppleTV documentary about Michael’s life is released called Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie.

Made by Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim, Michael was said to have played no part in its creation but gave the Training Day director full creative freedom and all-access to his life.

But put the tissues away, as the aim of the open-doors documentary is to show that Michael’s condition hasn’t broken his wit and soul.

Despite Parkinson’s giving Michael an appreciation for life and what he called in a recent interview ‘cautious optimism’, the actor also admitted he doesn’t think he will see his 80th birthday.

The actor has so far raised over two billion dollars for Parkinson’s disease and has now claimed that a cure is ‘closer than it’s ever been.’
