Barcelona and Manchester United are both interested in signing Monaco right-back Vanderson this summer, with the English club having more financial power in the battle for his signature.
The 21-year-old Brazilian signed for Monaco from Gremio in January 2022, signing a five-year contract and has impressed in France since then, playing regularly in Ligue 1 and the Europa League this season.
Spanish publication Sport, via Sport Witness, report that Barcelona are tracking the young full-back, with Deco, who is stepping into the sporting director role, making him a key target.
However, despite stabilising their financial situation somewhat and set to win La Liga again this season, Barca can’t compete with the cash that United can offer.
The reports suggest that Barcelona want Vanderson but only at a price that suits them, while the Red Devils will likely be able to blow that out of the water if they wanted to.
Specific figures have not been mentioned in terms of an asking price for the Brazilian, but Monaco would clearly want to make a big profit on the fee of around £10m they paid Gremio last year.
Erik ten Hag is thought to be keen to add a right-back to his squad over the summer despite having two options in that position in Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Both have played well this season, but the United hierarchy are obviously not totally convinced either as targets are being lined up to compete in that position.
Ajax and Netherlands defender Jurrien Timber is another eye-catching 21-year-old who is on United’s wish-list, and someone Ten Hag tried to sign last summer when he moved from Amsterdam to Manchester.
