King Charles III has made history in a momentous way… becoming the first ever soaps star to be a monarch.
The 73-year-old is the oldest person in British history to become a King – but that wasn’t his only record-breaking moment today.
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Britain’s longest-running-soap, back in 2000, Charles appeared in an episode of Coronation Street.
The then-Prince of Wales appeared on a news bulletin which was played in the episode, airing December 8.
In the bulletin, Charles met Weatherfield Councillor Audrey Roberts, while he was also pictured on set with Loose Women’s Denise Welch, who recently said – ahead of the historic event today – that she would rather pledge allegiance to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle than Charles.

More than two decades after his Corrie cameo, Charles made an appearance on EastEnders alongside his wife, and now Queen, Camilla.
During celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the residents of Walford were treated to an appearance of the two very special guests.
The specially shot scenes were filmed in March last year when Their Royal Highnesses visited the set of EastEnders to meet the cast and crew of the long-running drama.
The episode saw Linda and Mick Carter, played by Kellie Bright and Danny Dyer, introducing them to the residents of Albert Square.

‘I did think what amazing sports that they are just willing to do it,’ said Kellie. ‘I just thought wow, they’ve never done anything like this before.
‘They didn’t really know what to expect, I mean it must have been nerve wracking for them and completely out of their norm. So I just hope they enjoyed it as much as we did!’

While he may have appeared twice on soaps, Charles has also made several other appearances on our screens, including a recent stint on The Repair Shop, where he was left in awe after hearing his fully restored clock ring.
Before the big reveal, presenter Jay Blades greeted the monarch with a cup of Earl Grey tea presented in an HRH mug, to which Charles responded: ‘How did you guess?’
As he entered The Repair Shop barn, he asked horologist Steve Fletcher: ‘Have you got the bells working again? The suspense is killing me.’
And following the uncovering, the royal paused, muttering: ‘Oh my, look at that. You see? Fantastic. It just shows what love, care and attention does. Marvellous.’

After the pendulum was swung in order to hear the clock’s tick tock, followed by gorgeous little chimes and bells to the sound of a Scottish song, he smiled.
‘You see, such a good sound,’ he marvelled.
