Does the coronation affect the upcoming Premier League matches?
The Coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey will take place on Saturday, May 6, and much of the UK will be focused on the weekend events.
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September, football matches in the UK were postponed for the weekend, including three Premier League games. So will football be postponed again?
In the Premier League, all ten games will still go ahead over the course of the weekend but a number of fixtures have been rescheduled to ease the pressure on London.
The Manchester United vs. West Ham game, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been moved to Sunday. The clash between Fulham and Leicester has been rescheduled for Monday, which has been declared a Bank Holiday across the UK.
Liverpool’s game against Brentford, initially set for earlier in the day on Saturday, has been rescheduled for 5.30 pm that day.
The only match in London on Saturday will be Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace, with kick-off at 3 pm.
The final day of the Championship, League One, and League Two seasons will be moved to later in the Bank Holiday weekend.
League One games will now begin at 12 pm on Sunday, while League Two fixtures will start at 12.30 pm on Monday. The EFL action will conclude with the Championship matches on Monday at 3 pm.
