Gwyneth Paltrow will not recover any of the attorney fees from her recent ski collision trial.
At the end of March, the Iron Man actress won a lawsuit brought by Terry Sanderson over a crash on the slopes at the Deer Valley resort in Utah, in 2016.
The retired optometrist, 76, sought legal action over the incident, which left him with several broken ribs and severe head injuries.
He alleged that the 50-year-old crashed into him and was seeking $300,000 but a jury ruled in the 50-year-old’s favor, clearing her of all fault and awarded her the symbolic $1 she requested, as well as her legal fees.
According to reports, Judge Kent Holmberg has now noted that she will only receive the $1 she was awarded – while Sanderson will not appeal the final verdict.
The final judgement, obtained by PA, read: ‘The parties have stipulated that Ms Paltrow will agree not to seek recovery of her attorneys’ fees and costs, and Plaintiff agrees not to appeal the verdict or file any post-verdict motions.’

During an explosive two-week trial – which began on March 21, and was streamed live on YouTube – Sanderson alleged that Paltrow crashed into him on the slopes at the exclusive resort.
‘I got hit in my back so hard … it felt like a serious smack. I’ve never been hit that hard and I’m flying,’ he told the court.
‘All I saw was a whole lot of snow and I didn’t see the sky, but I was flying in that sense, I had no control.
‘The ground was coming up, no-one was in front of me … it was quite a ways to the ground. I said, “You’ve got to protect your face”. That was the last thing I remember.’

Taking to the stand, Paltrow slammed the accusation that she was being reckless while skiing, vowing: ‘I was not engaging in any risky behavior. I would not engage in risky behavior with or without my children being there.
‘My daughter was down the hill, my son was to my left, so I was skiing and my eyes were not fixated on my son when Mr Sanderson skied directly into my back.
‘I was confused at first and I didn’t know exactly what was happening. It’s a very strange thing to happen on a ski slope. I froze and I would say I got very upset a couple of seconds later.’

During cross-examination, she added that she felt ‘very sorry’ for Mr Sanderson, concluding: ‘It seems like he’s had a very difficult life but I did not cause the accident so I cannot be at fault that subsequently happened to him.’
Hours after the jury ruled in her favor, the Goop founder shared a statement on Instagram, explaining why she wanted her day in court.

‘I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity,’ she said at the time.
‘I am pleased with the outcome and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.’
Her attorney, Steve Owens, also read a statement on her behalf outside of the court, adding: ‘Gwyneth has a history of advocating for what she believes in – this situation was no different and she will continue to stand up for what is right.’
