It’s been more than 20 years since the original Chicken Run graced our screen and so of course Netflix has gone all out by casting an impressive all-star cast for the sequel.
Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget, which is due to arrive later this year, will see Westworld’s Thandiwe Newton take on the role of irrepressible escape artist Ginger, who famously planned the breakout in the first film.
She’ll be joined by Tangled’s Zachary Levi, who plays Ginger’s now-husband Rocky, the former circus rooster who helped the flock escape Tweedy’s farm.
Rocky and Ginger are now parents, and their adventurous young daughter Molly is played by none other than The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey.
Teasing their character’s personality, Bella said: ‘Molly is an incredibly curious and very intelligent chicken with a huge heart and a strong sense of justice.

‘She has inherited a rebellious wild side from her dad, and determination and all her social skills from her mum.’
Sharing what we can expect from Ginger, Thandwie added: ‘Ginger is finally living her dream, she’s content and all is right with the world.
‘The biggest change for Ginger is that she and Rocky are now parents, they’ve hatched a little girl called Molly who they adore.
‘Ginger is selfless and caring, and everything she does is for the good of her family and community. However, she soon realises that her desire for peace and harmony is under threat, what is she to do?

Elsewhere on the bill, Absolutely Fabulous actress Jane Horrocks is returning to play the perennially knitting hen Babs, alongside fellow original stars Imelda Staunton, who plays champion egg-layer Bunty, and comedian Lynn Ferguson plays Mac, also known as the brains.

Harry Potter actor David Bradley is Royal Air Force rooster Fowler, while comedian Romesh Ranganathan and actor Daniel Mays star as Nick and Fletcher, the hilarious rodents.
Completing the cast is newcomer Josie Sedgwick-Davies, who plays Molly’s friend Frizzle in her first major role.
