Michelle Keegan is taking on a lead role in Netflix thriller Fool Me Once, and the casting decisions means she now has something in common with Leonardo DiCaprio.
In the thriller, her character Maya Stern’s mother-in-law Judith will be played by the incredible Dame Joanna Lumley.
So now we’re going to need you to cast your minds back to 2013 – the word twerk was added to the dictionary, Prince George was born and Kim Kardashian agreed to marry Kanye West – but also Joanna played Emma in Wolf of Wall Street.
This was Margot Robbie’s character Naomi’s aunt who married Jordan Belfort (of course played by Leo) making Joanna his in-law! The two even had a smooch on the bench, which would definitely make Christmas dinner a little awkward in most families.
Now Michelle can say she’s shared a fictional family connection with Leonardo, 48. We love that Manchester and Hollywood are connected. Next thing will be the Trafford Centre getting its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Michelle, 35, was pretty excited to be working alongside Joanna, 76, in the eight-part series.

While their on-screen the relationship is ‘very strained’, things were different on set.
While chatting at a Netflix event attended by Metro.co.uk that was celebrating the upcoming 2023 content she said: ‘I still can’t believe it.’
Michelle offered an insight into what Joanna is like in real life for those of us who haven’t yet had the honour of meeting the icon.
‘She’s hilarious. She has all the crew laughing all the time. She is so professional and lovely to be around.’
We wouldn’t expect anything less.

‘I just gravitated towards her straight away. She makes you feel really comfortable. She’s a legend.’
Michelle added that she had to ‘pinch myself.’
In the show, Maya’s husband Joe, played by Richard Armitage, is brutally murdered in front of her. However, everything is not as it seems as one day she spots her ‘dead husband’ on the nanny camera. We follow Maya as she tries to figure out what the hell is going on!
The plot is based on on Harlan Coben’s best-selling novel of the same name, and set in Manchester so Essex-based Michelle got to spend time in her hometown.

‘I absolutely love it. It’s great that I go to my mum’s for dinner, and see my friends at the weekend.’
Humble Michelle expressed gratitude at getting the part: ‘I am very honoured to be part of this project, and I never take it for granted. I feel very lucky.’
Fool Me Once will stream on Netflix later this year.
