Football fans have been in for a treat this week with a full midweek schedule of Premier League games taking place.

And with the title, European and relegation races set to go down to the wire, supporters will be desperate to follow the action as close as possible.

So, will Match of the Day hit our screens tonight for a special weeknight edition of the popular show?

Here is everything you need to know.

Will Match of the Day be on tonight?

Thankfully for Premier League fans, Match of the Day will indeed be shown tonight.

The programme will begin on BBC One at 10.40pm and can also be streamed live on the BBC iPlayer.

Shortly afterwards, Match of the Day will be available to watch again at any time on the BBC iPlayer.

    Which games will be shown?

This evening’s Match of the Day will feature highlights of every game from Tuesday and Wednesday night’s action.

The standout fixture from the midweek schedule is tonight’s epic title showdown between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad.

Despite The Gunners heading into the match five points clear of City, the title momentum is very much with Pep Guardiola’s men who have won their last six league fixtures in contrast to Arsenal’s three successive draws.

Wednesday’s fixture list also includes a West London derby between Chelsea and Brentford at Stamford Bridge, whilst Liverpool will look to keep their faint hopes of a Champions League spot alive when they face West Ham in the capital.

Elsewhere this evening, Nottingham Forest head into their clash with Brighton two points from safety in their battle to avoid the drop, whilst the Seagulls will look to make up ground on the teams above them in the race for European football.

Tuesday’s action saw Leicester come from behind to grab a vital late point in their relegation six pointer with Leeds at Elland.

Meanwhile, Wolves took a huge stride towards extending their stay in the top flight to a sixth season with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Molineux to move nine points clear of the dreaded dotted line.

Aston Villa continued their astonishing rise under Unai Emery with a 1-0 win in the Midlands to tighten their grip on a European qualification spot.
