Burnley boss and Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has responded to claims Chelsea are interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge as their new manager.
The 37-year-old has emerged as a shock target for Chelsea, who are searching for Graham Potter’s long-term replacement.
Ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is the new frontrunner to take over at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea going cold on Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique.
But Chelsea are yet to make their final decision and could yet try to poach Kompany from Championship leaders Burnley.
The Belgian manager has won many admirers after guiding Burnley to promotion from the Championship in his first season at Turf Moor.
While the Clarets will be playing in the top-flight next season, Burnley are yet to secure their status as champions after taking just two points from their last three games and losing to relegation-battlers QPR on Saturday.
Kompany was asked about the speculation linking him with Chelsea following the 2-1 home defeat an said: ‘I’ve said I’m not engaging in any of these conversations.
‘I have too much at this moment in time in my head in terms of wanting to win football matches. That’s the only thing I care about.’
