Labour’s National Executive Committee has approved Sir Keir Starmer’s motion to prevent Jeremy Corbyn running to be an MP for the party at the next election.
A Labour spokesman said the leader’s motion passed by 22 votes to 12 on Tuesday afternoon.
It means it is now down to Mr Corbyn to decide whether to run as an independent candidate.
