Alison Hammond has heaped praise on a brave woman for ‘saving lives’ after she appeared topless on This Morning for a live breast examination.
Public speaking and PA Leanne Adu – who is a cancer survivor – was part of Monday’s show, appearing as a model alongside Dr. Sara Kayatt as the medical professional showed viewers how to properly check themselves for signs of breast cancer.
Sharing a clip of the exam on Twitter, she wrote: ‘Soooo, got my boobs out for Alison and Holly on @thismorning. I found my lump because I knew what my body felt like.
‘Many people will have opinions, but if this segment encourages just one person to check their breasts, then job done. EARLY DETECTION SAVES LIVES.’
Alison also shared the video, adding: ‘So important- please watch’
Leanne responded: ‘Best and most terrifying morning. Thank you for your lovely and kind words today, Alison. 🥰’
And the TV star replied: ‘Thanks for saving lives ❤️’

During the segment, which came as Kelly Hoppen discussed her own breast cancer diagnosis after getting the ‘all clear’, Dr. Sara showed viewers what to do.
She explained: ‘Part of the examination for breast is looking and feeling. So we’ll start by looking. You stand in front of the mirror straight on, you’re looking at your breasts, you’re looking for any changes in shape, size, outline, asymmetry.
‘You’re also looking at the skin, making sure that there’s no puckering or dimpling on the skin, rashes, ecthyma, scaling, crusting. Then you’re looking at the nipples, looking for any inversion or whether the nipples are pointing in any other direction, if there’s any nipple discharge.

‘And if you have got larger breasts, it’s important to lift up the breasts as well, and look under the breasts.’
Alison then chipped in: ‘This is me, this is my area, larger breasts. I’m so glad you’ve used somebody who has larger breasts.’
From there, Dr. Sara had Leanne turn to both sides, before showing viewers the right technique to feel for any potential signs of breast cancer.

Alison admitted she she had ‘never’ done it in such a thorough way after her co-host Holly Willoughby revealed: ‘You have to do it. I set a monthly reminder in my phone, so it goes off like an alarm and I check it every month.’
Alison added: ‘You know what? I’m gonna start doing that. I’ve never done that, not to that extent. I’ve never done that.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
