Evan Ferguson is prepared to snub summer interest from Manchester United to continue his development at Brighton.
The Republic of Ireland international has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best young strikers this season having scored seven times in 16 appearances for the Seagulls this season.
On his full international debut, the 18-year-old netted against Latvia on Thursday and is likely to start against France on Monday night as Stephen Kenny’s side get their Euro 2024 qualification campaign underway.
According to The Sun, United will have scouts in attendance to watch Ferguson in action against the former world champions.
Chelsea and Tottenham are also thought to be admirers but the youngster is in no rush to leave Brighton. Ferguson is convinced his development will be better served remaining at the club where more first-team opportunities are likely to come his way.
His performances have already caught the eye of former United and Ireland captain Roy Keane, who was asked about Ferguson during a live show of The Overlap in Dublin on Thursday.
‘When a young player like that comes along you’ve got to get excited. But you’ve got to give the kid a chance to mature,’ the former midfielder said.

‘Playing week in, week out in the Premiership is going to take its toll. But when you turn up for big matches, international matches, when you’re just playing in the Championship, it can be very, very difficult.
‘It’s been a great start for him though, I’m delighted for him. He seems like a nice kid.’
United have made signing a centre forward a priority for the summer with Ferguson seemingly another option under consideration.

Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen are United’s top targets but both would need United to shatter their transfer record to bring them to Old Trafford.
Kane will enter the final year of his contract at Spurs this summer but the north London side have told United they will still need to pay £100m to sign the England captain.
Napoli meanwhile value Osimhen at €150m and are under no pressure to sell their star striker, with the club enjoying a magnificent season where they have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League while holding an 18 point lead at the top of Serie A.
