The heartbroken family of a teenager who died after being electrocuted by railway lines said they will ‘never be able to overcome’ the tragedy.

15-year-old Roxy Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene in Weymouth, Dorset after her body was found by emergency services at 2.25am on Thursday.

Her devastated family have said they want to raise awareness of the dangers of railway tracks in light of her death, particularly of third rails which are always live.

In a statement released by British Transport Police, her relatives said they were ‘devastated for the loss of our daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter and cousin, Roxy Phillips.

‘Roxy was a strong-willed young woman, an animal lover who loved horses, especially her own horse Bradley.

‘This was a tragic accident that we as a family will never be able to overcome.’

‘We will always love and miss you, our beautiful Roxy.’

Elsewhere in the statement, her loved ones said ‘Roxy was loved and adored by her friends. We as a family have felt this love through the tributes and kind messages we have received.’

They added: ‘We will always love and miss you, our beautiful Roxy.’

British Transport Police said inquiries into the incident are ongoing, and are urging anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible.

BTP said in a statement: ‘Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Greenway Road, Weymouth, between the hours of 1am and 2.30am, as they may have information which could assist their enquiries.

‘Those with information can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 42 of 23 March.’
