A man feeding his newborn late at night was left terrified after burglars attempted to break into his home.
The man’s wife, who has not given her name, told local press that she ‘doesn’t feel safe’, adding she was so upset that lately she has been struggling to fall asleep.
The incident took place at the couple’s property in Brigg, North Lincolnshire, two days after they returned from hospital with their new baby.
The man was feeding their child on the downstairs sofa at approximately 3am on Wednesday.
His wife later explained he heard a ‘loud bang’. After seeing a man with a rucksack passing by the front window, he then heard a ‘sawing’ sound coming from the front door.
The man then turned on the lights both inside and out front, looking through the blinds to see the other man running off down the street.
Checking the CCTV later on, the couple were shocked to see the incident had in fact involved three other people.
The woman added that the footage also shows a white van and a red car driving around their local neighbourhood around an hour before the attempted burglary.
She told local press: ‘We’ve heard that there were loads of houses targeted.
‘Police are aware that there is a big target in the area so people just have to be more vigilant.
‘I’ve heard [the burglars] are after cars. They want to break into people’s houses to steal car keys.
‘I don’t feel safe now. We’ve just come out of hospital with a newborn baby and two days later we’ve got this happening.’
She added: ‘I feel anxious at night. At the time, it made my partner’s heart race but now he’s just angry.
‘We work hard to have nice things and when scumbags like them try and take them away from you when you have a new baby in the house, it’s the last thing you need.’
Humberside Police said in a statement shared with Metro UK: ‘Officers are investigating a reported attempted burglary at a property in Brigg.
‘If anyone has any information that may assist with our enquiries, including CCTV, dashcam or Ring doorbell footage, please call us on our non-emergency 101, quoting log 44 of 22 March.’
