Lego has made a stunningly realistic Land Rover Defender 90 and they’ve driven it to the world’s most remote Lego store to show it off.

Recreations of iconic vehicles, from a Porsche 911 to the Back to the Future DeLorean, are not a new concept for Lego but the new Land Rover set is especially good.

Like the other cars in the Lego Icons range, the set is aimed at adults, given the price and complexity of the model, and this one really could be mistaken for the real thing at a distance.

Not only does it look extremely realistic, but it’s filled with impressive details and a shopping list of accessories. Plus, it’s a two-in-one build where you can make it as a standard model or a fully off-road vehicle.

Not coincidentally, the Land Rover is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, with this particular model of Land Rover Defender having lasted from 1983 to 2016.

The set contains 2,336 pieces and includes fully functioning steering, doors, plus three hood options and two different engines. There’s even working suspension, which previous Lego cars have not had.

As you can see, the build also has spare tyres, a roof rack with extra work lights, jerrycans, a toolbox, a jack, a shovel, pickaxe, hammer, axe, fire extinguisher, and traction plates for crossing mud and sand. There’s even an engine snorkel for when it’s dealing with deep water.

There were no other customers that day (pic: Lego)

To announce the launch of the set, Lego designated a full-size Land Rover Defender as an official Lego Store and drove it to the Scottish Highlands, to make it officially the hardest-to-reach shop in the world.

It was parked at the end of a gruelling off-road track and Raha Moharrak, the first Saudi woman to climb Mount Everest and the Seven Summits, and extreme locations expert Aldo Kane were challenged with getting there and being the first to build the new set.

They weren’t picked at random either, as Raha is already a big Lego fan: ‘I build at least one Lego set each month, so working with the two brands together has been an epic adventure. It really was a dream come true.’

The Lego Icons Classic Land Rover Defender 90 set launches on April 1 for £209.99 at Lego stores and the Lego website.

The final model is 32cm long, 16cm wide, and 16cm tall and it’s product number is 10317.

This is going to make a great Father’s Day gift (pic: Lego)
