Amanda Bynes has been praised for recognising she needed help during a psychotic episode.
It was reported during the week that the former Nickelodeon star was under psychiatric hold following an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.
She’s The Man actress Amanda has struggled with her mental health in the past, and in 2013 was placed under a conservatorship, from which she was released last year.
Almost exactly a year on, Amanda was allegedly found roaming the streets in LA, alone and with no clothes on.
An eyewitness is thought to have told TMZ that the star flagged down a passing car and informed the driver that she was coming down from a psychotic episode, before reportedly calling 911 herself.
She was allegedly taken to a nearby police station, where she was placed on a 5150 hold, law enforcement officials told the outlet.
Many have taken to social media to voice their support for Amanda and wish her well, with some heaping praise on her for allegedly calling for help herself.

People suffering from psychosis or psychotic episodes very often cannot tell their behaviour is erratic, leading Twitter users to call for recognition of Amanda’s alleged feat.
Author and mental health advocate Bassey Ikpi took to the site on Monday where she said: ‘The fact that Amanda Bynes flagged a car down, told them she was having a psychotic episode and called 911 herself actually gives me a lot of hope for her well-being.
‘That’s a huge deal. When she’s ready, I hope she can be proud of herself for that.’
Another also said they were impressed ‘that she could recognize what was happening and knew what to do,’ while one said they were ‘so glad she knows now how to get help, and I hope they find meds to help her.’
Musician Erika Heidewald said it was ‘impressive’ that the former actress ‘was able to recognize that she was in psychosis, ask someone for help, and call 911 herself.’
They added: ‘Amanda Bynes demonstrated a really impressive level of self awareness and commitment to her mental health. she’s clearly been doing the work – she understands her illness, checks in with herself, and probably had a plan for how to seek help once she recognized signs of psychosis.’
To which one fan agreed it is ‘so difficult to recognize when you need help and I’m so happy she did. I hope she’s doing well with the help she needs.’
Amanda is now reportedly receiving treatment in hospital and will remain there for several days.

The news comes shortly after she pulled out of 90s con at the very last minute, ahead of a scheduled appearance with Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell.
Amanda was freed from her conservatorship on March 22, 2022, after nine years under the court order.
The Amanda Show star was first put under the restrictions following a series of mental health and substance abuse issues.
