A man has been charged with murder over a fatal stabbing at a nightclub in the West Midlands.
Edward Wilson, 39, was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday over the death of Akeem Francis-Kerr, 29, in Walsall.
He was fatally stabbed at Valesha’s nightclub, also known as Colliseum, on Newport Street in the town centre in the early hours of last Saturday morning.
West Midlands Police said in a statement: ‘We’ve kept Akeem’s family updated with the latest developments as we continue to support them during this distressing time.’
The force is appealing for information or footage of the incident captured on mobile phones.
‘We know there have also been concerns around recent knife crime in the town and we’ve been working hard, alongside partner agencies across Walsall, to reduce the risk of violence,’ the statement added.
