Sam Thompson in hospital with ‘excruciating’ pain as girlfriend Zara McDermott rushes to his side

Sam Thompson is very glad to have girlfriend Zara McDermott by his side as he battles some health woes.

The former Made in Chelsea star, 30, has spent his Friday in hospital after experiencing ‘excruciating’ stomach pains.

Fortunately, ex-Love Islander Zara, 26, isn’t going anywhere, as Sam has his colonoscopy to find out what’s going on.

For some background, a colonoscopy is a procedure in which a doctor uses a colonoscope or scope, to look inside your rectum and colon. It’s typically used to show irritated and swollen tissue, ulcers, polyps, and links to cancer.

Keeping his 1.6million followers updated on the situation, Sam shared a snap from his hospital bed: ‘Just swallowed a pill that has a camera on it!!’, he wrote.

‘Was super cool and was lighting up hahah [sic]’.

Sam added: ‘This contraption round my waist tracks it as it goes through the stomach!

‘Hopefully I’ll figure out what’s going on with my tummy’.

Ever the comedian, typical prankster Sam then uploaded a video in which he was lying on his side so the pill could travel ‘all the way through’ him.

‘And then, what happens?’, he asked Zara, sitting in a chair beside him.

‘I poo it out!’

‘You’ve gotta make sure that that machinery is on you for the next 10 hours,’ Zara instructed him.

‘Zara’s being one of them annoying people who’s like, “Make sure you meh meh meh”,’ Sam mocked in a funny voice, before asking her if she was going to look after him, to which she said she would.

‘I want service today,’ the reality star demanded, which Zara was quick to shut down.

In a second clip, Sam explained that he was about to head to a podcast recording with Pete Wicks, fully aware that his pal would ‘take the p**s’ out of him.

‘I’m gonna be like, hey, hey, hey, hey! Feel sorry for me!’, Sam pouted.

He added that he had to do ‘prep’ for his procedure last night, which he said anyone who has also had a colonoscopy will know is ‘not nice’.

And information from the NHS echoes Sam’s thoughts, as prepping for a colonoscopy involves drinking sachets of laxatives to empty your bowels the day before, ready for the test.

Sam will have also only been eating plain foods for the past two days, with partner Zara joking on her own Instagram Story that he was ‘hangry’ this morning.
