Penn Badgley admitted he was a little hesitant to request fewer sex scenes in the latest season of You.
Previous seasons have centred on Joe Goldberg’s unhealthy obsession with several women he is romancing, but in the fourth instalment the steamy scenes were reduced to a minimum.
The Gossip Girl actor, 36, previously shared that he asked showrunner Sera Gamble for the intimate scenes to be turned down a notch this time round, however, he wasn’t sure he was ready to discuss that with her.
‘I was nervous to even have that conversation,’ he said.
‘It was not easy. It was easy because of Sera’s response, and I felt relieved. But technically speaking, if I thought I’d had the ability to set that boundary earlier, I would have,’ he added to GQ.
The actor previously explained that he’s also ‘had enough’ of kissing scenes, noting he shot his first 21 years ago at the age of 15.

‘It’s caused an interesting conversation. Touching and kissing are some of the few things in the world you can’t simulate; if you’re doing it, you’re doing it,’ he said.
He added to i: ‘I’ve been acting professionally for 25 years. I think my first kissing scene was when I was 15. I’m now 36. I’ve had enough. It’s my boundary and I’m here to set it!’
Netflix is yet to confirm whether fans can expect a fifth chapter of the Netflix thriller, but the Easy A star – who is married to singer Domino Kirke – said if there is another series, it’ll most likely be the last one.
Penn recently shared with us his hopes for a potential season five, however he doesn’t think fan favourite Ellie Alves (Jenna Ortega) will make a return.
