Although he was attempting to steer clear of his unfortunate habits by undergoing a new identity as professor Jonathan Moore, this season welcomed a new twist as Joe (Penn Badgley) was the one being stalked.
Episode five titled The Fox and the Hound saw Joe finally coming face to face with his stalker Rhys Montrose, aka the Eat The Rich killer.
However, Joe’s attempt in taking him down took us on a bumpy ride we weren’t ready for.
For those who’ve binged the remaining five episodes, here’s a little recap of what went down.
Brace yourselves.

Episode eight was when the penny finally dropped, and we learn that Rhys (Ed Spelers) was actually a dark figment of Joe’s imagination, his murderous alter ego if you will.
Yep, Joe was the Eat The Rich killer, and he was the one who murdered Malcolm, Simon, and Gemma in part one
After the reveal that Joe has been hallucinating the murderous incarnation of Rhys, the final episode opens with him planning to take his own life in order to break the vicious cycle.
Joe later finds himself in hospital where he was rescued by the ambulance team. His love interest Kate Galvin (Charlotte Ritchie) was by his side and Joe decided to come clean about his murdering past.

After Kate declares her love for Joe, she helps rehabilitate his image and he vows that their relationship will ‘keep each other good.’
While Joe got his happy ending, the same couldn’t be said for his best student Nadia (Amy-Leigh Hickman).
The student managed to help Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle) escape from Joe’s box, but Nadia was desperate to turn him in to the police.
As she left his flat, Joe cornered her and took her phone, deleting the evidence, and offered her money in exchange for silence.
It’s later revealed that Nadia is now in jail, as Joe killed Nadia’s love interest Eddie after pinning Rhys’ murder on him, planting the box of evidence in his room. Joe then framed Eddie’s murder on Nadia. Joe’s voiceover explained that she is still in prison and refuses to speak in her own defense.
