Penn Badgley isn’t too certain Jenna Ortega will be making a surprise cameo in the next season of You, and we don’t know how to feel about it.
The 20-year-old star played Ellie Alves in season two of the Netflix drama, and instantly became a fan favourite.
Showrunner Sera Gamble revealed that the Jane The Virgin actress was scheduled to make a grand comeback, however, Jenna was too busy on the critically acclaimed Addams Family spin-off Wednesday.
Although Sera explained that bosses have ideas for Ellie’s return once Jenna’s schedule is free, leading man and executive producer Penn believes that might not be the case for lady of the moment Jenna.
After hearing that the Scream actress was ‘devastated’ to miss filming, Penn enthused: ‘Was she? That’s nice to hear.’
Speaking about Ellie’s possible return, he told Metro.co.uk: ‘Oh man… I mean the truth is they [Netflix] would have to pay up. She’s got that Wednesday money now.’

He continued: ‘You got to talk to Netflix. They can’t take it from me either, because we’re talking season five now Netflix!.
‘That would be great obviously, that would be so amazing. I don’t know that it’s going to happen. We’ll see.’
We’re still keeping hope alive nonetheless!
During this year’s Screen Actors Guild (Sag) Awards, Jenna expressed how she felt about missing the latest season.

‘I asked Sera Gamble, the creator, “can I just do no more intimacy scenes?”’ he said.
‘This is actually a decision I had made before I took the show.
‘I don’t think I had ever mentioned it publicly, but one of the main things is like, do I want to put myself back in a career path where I’m just always a romantic lead?’ he added while speaking on his podcast Podcrushed.
You is available to stream on Netflix.
