Manchester United are over-reliant on Casemiro and struggle to get results when he’s ‘not at the races’ like against Liverpool on Sunday.
That’s according to Jamie Carragher, who believes the Brazilian was ‘very, very poor’ at Anfield.
United suffered their heaviest ever Premier League defeat with a result and performance that was not in keeping with their otherwise impressive campaign.
Casemiro has been a huge part of that revival, with the midfielder becoming a vital cog in the side since his £60m arrival from Real Madrid.
However, the midfielder was far from his usual level on Sunday as United’s slim title hopes faded away.
And Carragher believes the defeat shows that United are over-reliant on Casemiro performing in order to compete with the best in the league.

‘Casemiro has been one of the best players in the league this season, but he was very very poor on Sunday.
‘You could see he wasn’t at the races. A player of his class shouldn’t give the ball away the way he did,’ said Carragher.
‘He was supposed to look after Harvey Elliott, but he made it too easy for him. The second goal is the killer for United. Casemiro couldn’t get near anyone, he’s fallen over twice.
‘To quote Gary Neville, it was scabby. It was his worst game for passing, he didn’t win one tackle. This is away at Liverpool.
‘It shows how important he is to Manchester United. They lose to Man City without him, he’s not at the races at Anfield and they concede seven.’

Casemiro was seen struggling in the early stages at Anfield and he’s now an injury doubt for Thursday’s Europa League clash against Real Betis at Old Trafford.
United have little time to dwell on their defeat against Liverpool, with Erik ten Hag’s side still aiming for a top-four finish and competing in the latter stages of the Europa League and FA Cup.
