Graham Potter has included teenager Omari Hutchinson in his matchday squad for the first time on Saturday away at Brighton in the Premier League.

The midfielder celebrates his 19th birthday on Saturday and it will be one to remember as he takes his place on the bench at the Amex.

The teenager is already pretty well travelled having started at Chelsea, before moving to Charlton and then to Arsenal in 2015, where he started making a name for himself.

He was on the bench a number of times in the Gunners first team in the Premier League and cup competitions, but never made his debut for the club.

Hutchinson re-signed for Chelsea in July this year and has been very impressive in the youth set-up, earning himself a spot in the first team squad this weekend.

The youngster also made his international debut this year, playing for Jamaica after representing England at Under-17 and Under-19 level.

Chelsea’s Under-21 coach Mark Robinson told The Athletic of Hutchinson’s progression: ‘Omari has been fantastic.

‘When you are a young player and you make that change of club, there is a lot of pressure on you. When he first came in, he probably felt that pressure, the big expectations on him moving from Arsenal and coming across to Chelsea.

‘I think, in his early performances, there was that pressure. But as time has gone on, you are seeing him relaxing more and more and he is really starting to show the player he is going to be. I am really pleased with him.’

On signing Hutchinson this summer, Chelsea’s head of youth recruitment Jim Fraser said: ‘We are delighted that Omari has agreed to sign for Chelsea.

‘He is a brilliant addition who joins us as an exciting emerging talent hoping to make a quick impression in the senior game.’
