FIFA 23 World Cup mode starts early November claims report

FIFA 23 – EA isn’t going to wait for the actual World Cup to start (pic: EA)

After already leaking once before, alleged details for FIFA 23’s World Cup mode say that it will begin in just a couple of weeks.

One thing EA hasn’t really talked about yet, when it comes to FIFA 23, is its World Cup mode. Aside from the fact that the game will receive content tied to the actual FIFA World Cup 2022 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, no one knows exactly how they’ll work or when they’re coming out.

Well, that’s only half true. Somehow, people were able to get the World Cup mode working earlier this month. Although EA did put a stop to this eventually.

Ahead of an official announcement or reveal from EA, a new report now claims to have more concrete details about the World Cup mode, including when it starts and some of the events EA has planned.

While the real-world event won’t begin until November 20, the in-game event is said to kick off in just a couple of weeks, on November 9.

Events will take place back-to-back, starting with a World Cup Path to Glory event that lasts from November 11 to November 23. This will ‘include the FIFA 23 FUT Heroes via a staggered set of two squad releases’ throughout its duration.

A Road to World Cup event is next, that includes 35 World Cup Icons that will also be made available via a staggered squad release. However, the event will only be available on December 2.

This will immediately be followed by a World Cup Stories event that runs until December 9, although no details on that were shared.

This report comes courtesy of serial leaker Tom Henderson on Insider Gaming, who adds that more events are planned for December, but his sources weren’t able to divulge any info on them.

The report doesn’t share any details on what the mode will entail for the Women’s World Cup, which runs from July 20 to August 20, but it’ll likely work in a similar manner, if not the exact same events centred around the women’s teams.

It’s also believed that, throughout the mode’s duration, players will be able to earn new and legendary players just through playing it, which means no paying for the game’s loot boxes.

This will last until January 3, which means the mode isn’t constricted by the duration of its real-world counterpart, which ends on December 18.

If the report is accurate, then you likely won’t have to wait much longer for an official, and more detailed, announcement from EA.

FIFA 23 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
