The Great British Bake Off fans are not impressed that the latest episode didn’t contain much baking – again.
Tuesday’s episode saw the contestants try their hands at custard week, which saw them prepare gateaux, floating islands, and ice cream.
Some viewers weren’t exactly delighted by the items on the menu, with many flocking to social media to complain there wasn’t much baking going on.
As the competitors raced to make ice cream and ice cream cones from scratch, viewers took to Twitter, many of them asking the same question.
‘Ice-cream? In what way is that baking??’, as one user put it, while another agreed: ‘Ice cream isn’t baking!’
‘There’s no actual baking in this program anymore,’ one viewer complained.

Another said the series ‘seems to have forgotten the baking element’ of the show.
And yet another asked: ‘Why on the biggest baking show on telly, have they been asked to do buggar all baking all series?’
One quipped sarcastically, as the competitors began their gateaux: ‘Wow, is that baking I see?’
It comes after some drama on a recent episode, which saw contestants make tacos for Mexican week.
However in a recent interview with Metro.co.uk, 2016 Bake Off winner Candice Brown defended the show’s decision to branch out, saying it had to change with the times.
‘A cake is a cake, there’s only so many things you can do with a Victoria sponge,’ she said.
‘There are so many cakes, we’re on what, season 13 now? That’s a lot of cakes, a lot of technicals. Why not branch out? In the early seasons, Bake Off was so cake-oriented. It had to be sweet, there was very little savoury.
‘And now it’s changing with the times. Because there are so many different things people can do. We’re not just one trick ponies.’

Next week’s episode will see the contestants tackle pastry week, which means fans are pretty much guaranteed a good bit of baking.
The Great British Bake Off returns next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
