Phillip Schofield’s wine has been dropped from Waitrose.

The This Morning host launched his own selection of wines in 2020, with the brand being exclusively sold in the supermarket, but it seems Waitrose has moved on.

A Waitrose spokesperson told Metro.co.uk in a statement: ‘It’s absolutely normal for us to review our selection from time to time and we haven’t sold this wine for a while.’

Phil’s wine has had distinctly mixed reviews, averaging two stars from 23 reviews on the Waitrose website.

Various reviews brand it ‘undrinkable’ and ‘overpriced’, with one adding: ‘There is nothing whatsoever you can do to make this drinkable.’

On Amazon, the reviews are a little more generous, with the wine averaging four stars from 223 reviews – although plenty of customers still weren’t happy with the taste.

Phillip announced his wine launch in 2020, partnering up with When in Rome.

Fans could pick from a Falanghina (white) and a Nero di Troia (red).

At the time, he said: ‘I wanted figures on how eco-friendly box wine was and I wanted it to be good value. The result is something I felt I could really invest in.’

‘I have really enjoyed the process of sourcing, selecting and now sharing these wines with everyone.

‘I don’t think there is anything I have been so passionate about, so I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do.’

Shortly after the launch, Phil’s pal and This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby supported his venture, sharing a photo of the product on Instagram and writing during the first lockdown: ‘I mean… it’s Friday… work and home schooling done for the week… I can’t go for a drink with @schofe but I figure this is the next best thing!’

Phillip’s partnership with webuyanycar.com also recently ended, with the company saying: ‘We Buy Any Car and Phillip Schofield agreed earlier this year that the webuyanycar/Phillip Schofield campaign would come to an end in 2022, having worked together for over five years.

‘The decision was made prior to any recent stories regarding Phillip.’

It was claimed that TikTok star Mufasa, real name Jeff Obeng, has taken Phil’s We Buy Any Car spot.

A source revealed: ‘Mufasa is just what the brand needs to inject some energy into the adverts after the backlash following “queue-gate”.’

The insider continued to The Sun: ‘The hope is that a TikTok star will also appeal to a younger audience.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Phillip Schofield for comment.
