Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) sought shelter on Chelsea Fox’s (Sarah Abrahams) sofa in EastEnders, after Denise Fox (Diane Parish) asked him to give her some space.
Jack, as viewers know, came to believe that daughter Amy (Ellie Dadd) was having sex with Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) and thus he lashed out, holding the latter against the wall.
His irate behaviour antagonised everyone in his close circle, with Denise insisting that he apologise to both Denzel and his dad Howie (Delroy Atkinson) for the way he’s behaved.
Matters we’re complicated further when he discovered that Amy had reported him to the police for the way he treated Denzel, and thus he headed to Peggy’s, where he sought solace in the booze.
Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) was on hand to offer him support, and the duo enjoyed a few drinks together, before stumbling home through the Square, where Sam planted a kiss on Jack’s lips.
Jack pulled away, making it clear that he wasn’t interested, but the exchange had been recorded by Denzel, who subsequently sent it to Denise!
Denise was outraged, as Jack professed his innocence, and despite their previous quarrel, Denzel backed him up in his claim that he pulled away from Sam after the kiss.
Denise therefore confronted Sam for her actions, before telling Jack to give her a night to herself as she needs ‘space’.
Jack complied with her request, but struggled to find somewhere to stay, prompting Chelsea to offer him her sofa for the evening. Jack was grateful, and the two shared a hug.

Sam, however, witnessed the moment and proceeded to wind Denise up, insisting that she should keep an eye on Jack, given his history with Chelsea.
