Liz Truss has apologised to the nation for the economic pain unleashed by her mini-budget as she battled to save her job, reads the front page of the Daily Express. 

“I do want to accept responsibility,” she said and privately apologised to MPs for the pain caused by her tax-cutting economic plans, the paper says.

The paper also looks at the performance of Jeremy Hunt who said he “showed signs of being someone who just might have the mettle to navigate the government through the choppy waters that lie ahead.”
