Joe Cole believes that Arsenal do have what it takes to win the Premier League title after their outstanding start to the season.

The Gunners have won eight of their opening nine games of the season, including impressive victories over Tottenham and Liverpool, to go top of the table.

With Liverpool struggling and Manchester United and Chelsea adapting to new managers, many believe the title race is between Arsenal, Tottenham and reigning champions Manchester City, who are separated at the top by just four points.

While still fairly early in the season, Mikel Arteta’s side do look to be genuine title contenders and they’ll hope to extend their one point advantage on Sunday when they travel to Leeds.

Former Chelsea and Liverpool attacking midfielder Cole, who won three Premier League titles with the Blues, certainly thinks Arsenal fans should get excited, telling BT Sport: ‘I’m a believer now.

‘We’ve seen them trip up themselves so many times over 10 years, you always want to have another look and another look, but the process Mikel Arteta is talking about for the last 12-18 months is starting to bear fruition.

‘The young players, the ones coming in, are delivering it. It looks like a well-oiled machine. Exciting times for Arsenal fans.’

In addition to the domestic game, Arsenal are also thriving on their return to European competition, with three wins out of three in the Europa League so far.

In all, they have won 11 out of 12 games so far this season, with their only loss coming away to United.

‘We talk about continuity under Arteta,’ Cole added.

‘He’s always, of the big hitters, using two, three or four in European games, bringing in lads around him. To continue that performance.’
