Liverpool and Manchester City square off on Sunday

Liverpool host Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday in the latest chapter between the two north west superpowers.

Liverpool and City have set the standards in English football over recent weeks but the Reds will start the match as underdogs following a substantial dip in form.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have only managed to muster two wins from eight league games this season leaving the team languishing in tenth position in the table.

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola have had no such struggles this season and their impressive performances and results have them hot on the heels of leaders Arsenal.

Liverpool will be buoyed by a dominant 7-1 victory over Rangers in midweek whilst City will want a swift response from their chaotic draw in Copenhagen on Tuesday.

Here is your full brief ahead of the blockbuster showdown.

When does Liverpool vs Manchester City start?

Liverpool vs Manchester City will take place on Sunday, October 16.

Kick-off at Anfield will be at 4.30pm.

The game will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.

Coverage of the match will begin on both channels from 4pm.

Sky Q and Sky+ customers can add Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Football to their existing deals for an extra £18 a month.

    What is the team news?

Liverpool will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold who is expected to be out for another week or two following his twisted ankle sustained at Arsenal last week.

Luis Diaz who will be sidelined until December with a knee injury picked up in the 3-2 defeat at The Emirates, while summer signing Arthur Melo will be missing for up to four months after undergoing surgery.

Curtis Jones and Andy Robertson are closing in on a return, while Joel Matip is not thought to be out of action for too much longer.

City will once again be without Kyle Walker who faces a race against time to make the World Cup.

John Stones is not yet back in training following the hamstring injury sustained on international duty with England.
