He became a break out TikTok star with his sweet videos tracking trains and now Francis Bourgeois has been given his own show.

The train enthusiast is set to host a five-part digital series for Channel 4 called Trainspotting with Francis Bourgeois.

In it, he will tour the United Kingdom to demystify the hobby of trainspotting, where he’ll also be joined by a celebrity who will no doubt get a detailed run down of the make, model and importance of the train they watch pass by.

Ready and waiting on the platform to join him on the journey are comedian Aisling Bea, Eurovision star Sam Ryder, football star Jesse Lingard, rapper AJ Tracey and Love Island alum Chloe Burrows.

While his passion is clear to see, will his new friends embrace the pastime, and share his excitement as a vintage locomotive travels down the tracks?

With an incredible 2.6 million followers on TikTok, Bourgeois (real name Luke Nicholson) was studying engineering at the University of Nottingham back in 2020 when his train videos took off and saw him amass a loyal following online.

His totally wholesome videos provided a much needed pick up during a particularly miserable time, and people have held onto the joy his videos bring.

Speaking about the series, Bourgeois said being given the opportunity to share his passion with even more people had been an ‘absolute whirlwind’ so far.

‘When I started making videos about my hobby I never thought anything like this would happen. It’s been totally surreal,’ he said.

‘Celebrities I’ve seen on TV, stages and sports stadiums, I’ve been able to take into my domain to show them how trains and all things mechanical engineering make me feel, hopefully making them feel something good too.

‘Showcasing my passion in a way I have never been able to before, has been so liberating. Showing the ins and outs that make railway enthusiasm such a rollercoaster.’

So popular are his videos, that earlier this year Bourgeois teamed up with The Jonas Brother singer Joe Jonas and took him trainspotting in the English countryside, while he’s also appeared in an advert for The North Face and Gucci, where he played the role of train conductor.

Rest assured though, despite its namesake, this series is set to be a lot more uplifting than the 1996 movie.

Trainspotting with Francis Bourgeois is available to watch on Channel 4’s YouTube channel from October 19.
