Bruno Mars has announced that he will not be putting Silk Sonic’s album, An Evening With Silk Sonic, forward for consideration at next year’s Grammy Awards.

The 37-year-old performs as one half of the hugely popular duo, alongside with Anderson .Paak.

However, despite sweeping the board at the Grammys back in April, the Uptown Funk musician confirmed that we would not see a repeat at the upcoming ceremony, taking place on February 5, 2023.

He announced the surprise move in a statement, but did not shed light on what led to their decision.

‘We truly put our all on this record, but Silk Sonic would like to gracefully, humbly and most importantly, sexually, bow out of submitting our album this year,’ the message read via Rolling Stone.

‘We hope we can celebrate with everyone on a great year of music and partake in the party. Thank you for letting Silk Sonic thrive.

‘Andy and I, and everyone that worked on this project, won the moment the world responded to Leave The Door Open. Everything else was just icing on the cake.

‘We thank the Grammys for allowing us to perform on their platform – not once but twice – and awarding us at last year’s ceremony. We’d be crazy to ask for anything more.’

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr accepted their decision and added in a separate statement: ‘We appreciate their decision not to submit this year but look forward to celebrating an amazing year in music together.’

Grammys nominations will be announced on November 15 ahead of next year’s ceremony – held in Los Angeles at the beginning of February.

Silk Sonic had a hugely successful awards haul at this year’s Grammys, taking home all of the gongs they were nominated for.

    Not too shabby…

They were mentioned in the categories for song of the year, record of the year, best R&B performance and best R&B song for their hit Leave The Door Open.

Accepting their award for record of the year, Anderson joked: ‘We are really trying our hardest to remain humble at this point.

‘But in the industry we call that a clean sweep. To all the other nominees, you all know we love you all.

‘Drinks are on Silk Sonic tonight. We are getting drunk. I know a lot of you fans will be upset. So we will get out of here before the internet gets to talking.’
