Royal Mail workers walk out in first of 19 days of strikes
The first of 19 strikes by Royal Mail workers have begun in a long-running dispute over pay and conditions.
The 24-hour strike starts on Thursday at 04:00 BST – the Communication Workers Union (CWU) said some 115,000 of its members will take part.
Royal Mail has 19 days of planned industrial action – including Black Friday and Cyber Monday, other dates include 13, 20 and 25 October and 28 November.
Letters will not be delivered and some parcels will be delayed, the Royal Mail has warned.
It’s the sixth strike for postal workers following a summer of unrest which saw walkouts across several industries amid disputes with their employers.
