A forgetful woman managed to leave not one, not two, not even three, but 23 contact lenses inside one of her eyes.
Horror footage shows the grim moment one unlucky doctor had to remove the mass of green gunk pouring from the socket.
The doctor can be heard telling her she must have earned a ‘Guinness world records patient’ in the process.
Sleeping with contact lenses in at night can lead to a build up of pseudomonas – a type of bacteria – which infects the eye and can cause permanent blindness.
The bacteria is commonly found in soil and is more likely caught by someone who does not have a strong immune system. It can also cause chest, blood and urinary tract infections.

Sleeping with lenses in can also leave eyes sore and dry. There is the added risk of ulcers and inflammation because of a reduced oxygen supply to the eyes.
In a recent severe case, a grandma lost her eye after wearing contact lenses in the shower.
Marie Mason, 54, developed an infection in her left eye after a microscopic amoeba present in tap water got between her contact lens and cornea.

She was eventually told she had a type of bacteria called Acanthamoeba Keratitis.
Her eyes were removed by doctors after five years of them trying different types of treatments, including three unsuccessful cornea transplants.
