A picture has been released of a man wanted in connection with various burglaries – but his unique surname is what appears to have caught the public’s eye.
Police appealed for help in finding 26-year-old Jason Cheesey, from Crook, County Durham, on Tuesday.
But locals became a little bit preoccupied with making fun of his surname.
David Wilkinson posted: ‘We must catch him. We camembert the thought of him
being on the run.’
Ian Sanderson added: ‘Is he Stilton on the run?’
Someone else wrote: ‘He’ll have to tread Caerphilly though.’
And Stephen Sams: ‘I’ve heard he’s in York, it’s a Cathedral city.’

Rag Thorsen went with: ‘The police were curdled and strained pursuing him, but
he got a whey….’
One user wrote: ‘I reckon he’s fled the country. He’s got a Swiss
passport.’
Arthur Crandon said: ‘This will Brie his downfall.’
Cieran Reed added: ‘If he said cheese that photo would have been grate.’
And Duane Wardman guessed at this final location, writing: ‘Last seen heading through Cheddar gorge, en route to Wensleydale.’
Durham Police posted on Twitter: ‘Have you seen Jason Cheesey? Officers want to speak to the 26-year-old in connection with burglary and theft offences. Mr Cheesey is from #Crook & is also wanted by @PoliceScotland
