The Inside Soap Awards nominations are in, with the shortlist of four potential winners for each category revealed.
EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks have all got a substantial amount of nods; with Home and Away, Doctors and Casualty also having representation.
Additionally, axed dramas Holby City and Neighbours have their final chance to scoop up some accolades.
The nominations cover a whole range of plots and characters, but Emmerdale’s Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and EastEnders’ Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) lead the way with the most for their respective storylines.
And this year, Inside Soap is also seeking to crown the All Time Soap Icon, to mark 30 years of the magazine.
Gary Gillatt, editor of Inside Soap magazine, said: ‘Inside Soap’s special 30th birthday award has excited the imagination of our readers, who have been free to choose anyone from the world of soap as their All-Time Icon.
‘Leading the pack are much-loved stars from some of the most famous families in Britain: the Barlows and the Beales, the Slaters, the Dingles and the McQueens. But there can only be one ultimate soap icon!
‘Voting in this year’s Inside Soap Awards has been closer than ever. Fans have been especially keen to praise four highly-regarded storylines: Abi Webster’s battle for baby Alfie in Coronation Street; Jean Slater’s struggle with bipolar disorder in EastEnders; the story of Marlon’s stroke in Emmerdale; and the harrowing tale of Misbah’s rape in Hollyoaks. It’s been a golden year for hard-hitting drama!’
