William and Harry side by side behind Queen’s coffin
Prince William and Harry walled side by side behind the Queen’s coffin as it made the procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall on Wednesday.
The royal brothers, along with their father King Charles III and other members of the royal family followed the coffin to the Hall where Queen Elizabeth II will now lie in state for four days.
The sight of them walking behind the coffin evoked memories of them when they were children walking behind their mother’s coffin. Princess Diana died in a car crash in 1997 when William was just 15 and Harry was 12.
The Queen’s coffin, carried on a gun carriage, passed below the Buckingham Palace balcony, where only three months ago the Queen appeared for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Earlier in the week, William and Harry along with their wives Kate and Meghan went for a Windsor walkabout – as they greeted the waiting crowds. It was the first time the four had been seen together in several years – Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California.
