Florence Pugh to skip Don’t Worry Darling’s NYC premiere
British actress Florence Pugh is set to skip the New York premiere of Don’t Worry Darling – the film best known for its on and off-set drama.
The movie has mostly been panned by critics but most critics say Pugh’s performance is fantastic. Whilst co-star Harry Styles and the movie’s storyline have been criticised.
The film debuted at the Venice Film Festival on 7 September and will be having its USA premiere on 19 September.
Pugh had skipped the Venice press conference amid rumours of a falling out with director Olivia Wilde – one of many scandals surrounding the film and its cast. Warner Bros has now confirmed to Rolling Stone that ‘Miss Flo’ will not be in attendance during the NY Q&A session with the rest of the cast.
Warner Bros claims Pugh’s commitments to filming Dune: Part Two in Budapest is the reason she won’t be there. She attended the Venice World premiere – walking the red carpet in what many dubbed her ‘Princess Diana revenge dress’. Dune director Denis Villeneuve apparently said he can’t lose the actress again.
The news comes amid weeks and months of drama surrounding the film – from feuds, alleged firings and a romance between the director and Harry Styles.
During the Venice premiere, all eyes were on the cast. Many noted Florence had no interactions with director Olivia Wilde and Wilde’s real-life partner Harry Styles. There was also a strange interaction between Harry Styles and Chris Pine which went viral as well as plenty of meme-able moments from Harry Styles which appeared to highlight the fact he did no research for his role and wasn’t that interested in the craft – further proving people need to stop hiring pop stars for movie roles.
