Archie Battersbee: Legal battle at the end, says mum
Archie Battersbee’s mother has said the legal battle to keep her 12-year-old son’s life support on was at “the end.”
On Wednesday, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) refused an application from Archie’s parents to delay any changes to his treatment. The court said it “would not interfere” with the UK courts’ ruling, paving the way for Archie’s treatment to stop.
His family now want to file an application in the High Court to transfer Archie to a hospice – they have until 9 am Thursday to submit their application.
Archie’s mother Holly Dance, speaking outside the Royal London Hospital earlier, said it was now “the end.” Ms Dance said: “We’ve now got a fight to see whether we can get him out of here to have a dignified passing at a hospice.”
