New driving laws being introduced TODAY mean British drivers are more exposed to £1000s in fines
The Sun says AFTER a raft of Highway Code changes earlier this year, a new set of driving laws are being introduced today that could result in more fines for drivers.
The laws include changes to council powers, electric vehicles and clean air zones.
From today, councils throughout England and Wales that have applied to the Department for Transport can start to issue fines for motoring offences.
Experts are worried that this will result in a huge spike in the number of fines being issued to drivers every day.
Up until now, fines for offences such as making an illegal U-turn, driving in a bus lane, driving the wrong way down a one-way street or stopping in a yellow box junction have been enforced by the police.
