Queens Platinum Jubilee – what’s the future of the monarchy?
With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee just around the corner, questions over the future of the monarchy are swirling. Whilst Britain appears to still be in support of the royal family – support for the firm has been dropping across the UK.
Many are expecting the face of the firm to change once the Queen dies and Prince Charles becomes King – there is expected to be a reassessment from commonwealth countries as to whether to keep a British monarch as their head of state.
The politically right is pushing the narrative that all is fine hard, whilst the left-leaning papers are questioning the need and role of the monarchy going forward.
This Jubliee will likely be the last for a very long time and will most likely be the last of its kind – over-the-top pageantry and parades.
This week we’ll be celebrating the Queen’s remarkable 70-year reign with a four-day bank holiday and street parties – an incredible way to acknowledge the work of the Monarch. And the event will serve to mark the end of a royal era and to look forward to what could come.
